Merrimac School

International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program

The Merrimac School at the Dr. Frederick N. Sweetsir and Helen R. Donaghue Schools is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme and pursuing authorization as an IB World School.

IB World Schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to improve the teaching and learning of a diverse and inclusive community of students by delivering challenging, high quality programmes of international education that share a powerful vision.

“Merrimac Goes Back to School”

Plan to be there on Thursday, August 31st! Children, parents and teachers will have a chance to get together before the next school year starts, to check out classrooms, walk around the building, and just hang out for a good time! MGBTS will be held simultaneously at BOTH schools from 2 to 3pm. Parents and students are invited to visit their classrooms and teachers during this time. At 3pm, we close down the classrooms and direct everyone to Sweetsir for the remainder of the community portion of the event.

From 2-4pm Community Organizations and School programs will have information tables set up at the Sweetsir School, for parents and students to learn all about the extra-curricular opportunities available in and around Merrimac.

Grade 5 Donates to the MSPCA

Grade 5 students and teachers from the Donaghue School presented the MSPCA, at Nevins Farm with a check for $482.52.  They raised these funds by hosting bake sales at their school.  They also gave the MSPCA a truck-load of donations that they collected, and posters that they made of the animals , while bringing awareness of the animals to their local community.
